Well, we’ve made it to February and that means spring is just 6 weeks away! Though this month is filled with gifts of chocolate, candy hearts and roses, you may want to consider showing your home a little love with a brand new hot water tank. The reason? The Department of Energy (DOE) has passed a mandate to increase hot water tank efficiencies as part of the National Appliance Energy Conservation Act, which will go into effect starting this April. According to the DOE, the mandate will apply to residential water heaters, pool heaters and direct heating equipment (such as gas fireplaces). Read more about the National Appliance Energy Conservation Act here.
The Act will require all manufacturers to increase hot water tank efficiency in hopes of conserving energy and saving consumers money over time. Though marginally more efficient, the new mandated water tanks will increase in physical size, require additional help to set in place and will ultimately cost more from the manufacturer. As these requirements will add substantially to water heater replacement prices, you may want to take advantage of our Hot Water Tank Special before the mandate takes effect! Continue reading →
The new year arrived on the scene with a swift drop in temperature and snowfall. With the frigid temps, the air has become bone-dry leaving skin cracked, lips chapped, hands dry and hair full of static. There are many home accessories that Jennings Heating supplies for your comfort but, aside from heating and cooling, there is none more important than the whole house humidifier. With busy schedules, it’s easy to forget to do something as simple as turn on the humidifier when necessary, which is what makes the Aprilaire Model 600 humidifier so wonderful- it has an automatic outside temperature sensor that will turn on for the season without a reminder and also adjusts automatically to outside conditions!
There are many reasons to have a whole house humidifier installed, including the following:
• Low Relative Humidity can make you more susceptible to catching a cold and flu viruses have been linked to speedier progression and transmit ion in dry air.
• Cold dry air can also aggravate asthma
• Itchy eyes, dry skin and a sore throat can all be traced back to air that’s not properly humidified
I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving spent feasting on delicious food and enjoying time with loved ones. Now that we’ve ushered in December, amidst the hanging of twinkling lights, sending cards and decorating the tree, we embrace the hopeful spirit of the Christmas season and all that it brings.
A recent holiday tradition for my family has been to visit a national treasure right here in our own backyard-Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens. This sprawling 1900s estate is the nation’s 6th largest Historic Home open to the public. During the holiday season, the mansion is decorated with various Christmas themes and features a light show that is sure to make for a great evening with the family. Share some of your favorite holiday traditions with us on our Facebook page; we’d love to hear from you!
In all the busyness of the season, there are several “housekeeping” items that you won’t want to forget as they will help keep your house warm this winter: Continue reading →
This has been a most colorful fall and I hope you’ve had an opportunity to get out and enjoy the splendor! With just weeks before Thanksgiving, it’s a great time to take stock of how fortunate we are and all that we have to be thankful for. Whatever your family tradition may be, take time to give thanks for all that you hold dear, and with Veteran’s Day approaching, this includes thanking our service men and women for all that they have sacrificed and endured to provide us with the freedoms we have today.
Just as you may have much to give thanks for, there are those around us who are in need this holiday season. To help meet the needs of our community, Carol Sweitzer in our Customer Service department is once again heading up Jennings’ annual canned food drive. Give a donation of three cans of food to our technician when he visits your home for a service call anytime before November 19th and receive a one-time $5 discount off of your bill. Your canned food donations are supplied to the Akron Canton Food Bank through the WKDD collection station and help to provide a filling Thanksgiving dinner for those who might not otherwise have it. Last year we managed to collect 661 cans of food and our target this year is 800 cans. Please help us reach our goal and donate your canned goods!
Fall is certainly in the air-leaves are beginning to change, mornings are crisp and cool, and everywhere you go the flavors and colors of fall are bursting at the seams. The changing of seasons brings something new to enjoy, so be sure to get out with family and friends to take part in the festivities! Speaking of change, we have made some updates to our website that you may find interesting, including this month’s specials and coupons. When you get a chance, check them out here.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you, our customers, for letting us know how we are doing. Whenever I look at our employees and think of how long I have known these hard working individuals, I always remind them that they are the “Jennings Heating” that our customers see. This year you let us know that you saw great things as we received an A+ rating from both Angie’s List and Better Business Bureau. Thanks for your vote of confidence. We don’t often receive complaints, but when we do we take the opportunity to train and improve, so please continue to let us know how we’re doing.
Wow! This summer just seemed to fly by, and with the mild temps as of late it seems fall is eager to come on the scene.
The cooler weather has people thinking about the coming heating season and many are already calling us to have their heating equipment cleaned and checked to ensure it’s running properly before the first big drop in temperature. Remember to schedule your furnace tune-up soon to make sure you aren’t left out in the cold when the chill sets in!
August has begun, which means fitting as much summer into the next month as possible before kids go back to school and the weather begins to cool. Though this month can sometimes feel like a long goodbye as Ohioans hang on to every drop of sun we can, it also welcomes the beginning of football season, and that’s something to look forward to. No matter who you root for, whether it be a local high school, college ball or your favorite NFL team, August brings the first glimpse of hope for what the upcoming season may hold.
I hope that your 4th of July weekend was spent with friends, family and neighbors and was filled with laughter as well as smiles. The weather couldn’t have been more perfect for whatever plans you had in store and with any luck you now have a bit of a summer glow. I’d like to take a moment to honor the reason behind our celebration of 4th of July and thank each and every veteran and their family for the unbelievable service and sacrifice you have given to our country. Every Jennings truck sports the red, white and blue of our flag and we are proud to have the freedom to do business in this great country. Continue reading →

Thoughts of this year’s brutal winter are finally beginning to fade- the sooner the better! Once the weather is good in Ohio it’s very, very good.
With the recent spring showers and storms, we have received a lot of interest in our whole house surge protectors. When our technician is visiting your home to perform regular maintenance (don’t forget to change those filters!) he can install a surge protector to help protect your home against a lightning strike. This device will shut off power to your appliances, protecting items such as your refrigerator, TV, air conditioner etc. should your home be struck by lightning. As our home appliances have become more efficient and packed with technical gadgets, they have also become more susceptible to power surges and more expensive to repair. There’s good and bad news here-the bad news is that once lightning strikes, the protector will need to be replaced (which may be several hundred dollars), the good news is that if this happens you will have saved thousands of dollars in appliance repairs or replacements. Call our office for information about our whole house surge protectors. You may even want to explore a backup generator in case of a power failure. Continue reading →
